Apparently, the laundry IS a new request.

Is helping with your dc's laundry in your nanny work agreement? If not, then as lazy and entitled as she sounds, your nanny has every right to say no.

If the above is the case, I would guess she might have had a job where "please spray spot remover on clothes evolved into "Wash all the laundry in the house every week." - job creep burns nannies to the poi t that they become unwilling to go outside of their work agreement at all.

OTOH, if she is expected to do laundry, then she's being lazy.

Either way, it's time for a sit down talk to resolve this issue. Either add a little pay and add laundry for DC to nanny's responsibilities, or remind nanny that laundry IS her job and give her a specific time period to shape up or be let go.

I am usually in favor of working situations out but your nanny just seems lazy and unreasonable. It is virtually unheard of to not do the children's laundry. You aren't even asking for that, just a stain pre-treat! Not to mention the fact that she should be able to figure out how to feed your daughter without resulting in food all over her clothes....

Unless this nanny has some AMAZING other attributes, it is time for you to think about replacing her.

Not even close! This is a business relationship, not a personal one, and an employer doesn't have to put up with an employee's bad behavior (nor vice versa) for the sake of "stability", which is I am sure where you are going with this inane response.
Furthermore, I would hope you know if the person you are marrying is a slob before making it official, MB had little way of predicting her nanny's laziness before entering into a relationship with her. She was unable to act preemptively.

Your nanny priorities are misplaced.

No its not. This is an employee who won't do one simple little thing to help a specific situation. There are probably other ways she is inflexible and if you juvenile discovered them then you will soon. That being said you should get some dream baby pullover bibs (or something like them) because your child will need bibs for 2 years. And the little stinkers can't get them off... great bibs!

A mix of two parts hydrogen peroxide and one part blue dawn with a little bit of baking soda will remove almost any stain.

That being said, I don't think you're asking too much. Leave the stain spray next to DC's hamper and ask nanny (again) to spray the stained clothes.

Then tell your nanny to do the same. Explain how disappointed you are in the stained clothes. If she doesn't care then she is not a very nice person.

Yes, but DC tears them off, usually. I have her eat in just a diaper most of the time.

No you are not asking too much. Do yo use large bibs ? Those seem to really help. I've even taken off clothes when children eat spaghetti. I would feel awful if a clothing item was stained while on my watch.

DC is not quite adept at eating yet, and is pretty messy. More and more frequently, I have pulled stained clothes out of the hamper. I asked our nanny to please change outfits when that happens, and spray the stains, but she refuses. She says laundry is not her job. I am not asking her to do DC's laundry, simply change clothes and spray stains after meals. Am I asking too much? I only have a handful of outfits that aren't permanently stained now.
