Considering that she is your friend and the age of your children, I would say somewhere between $13-15/Hr.

Maybe less if it is at her house or if you are a single mother or on a tight budget because I know as friends, sometimes we do things as favors.

You should find out the average rate in your neighborhood and go from there. Alternatively you could offer a flat rate of $150 or whatever seems fair to you. Also, it's always nice when the parents leave something decent for lunch (though certainly not required) or leave money to get a pizza or go on an outing etc. 9 hours is a long time.

If a sitter has no rates to quote you, she's certainly not a nanny. How does she pay her rent?

Maybe 15 per hr

OP here. I'm ignoring all snarky arguments going on in my thread.

I did ask her. She didn't have a set price and didn't suggest one.

I have never in my life paid ANYONE 20-25/hour, by the way. That seems like a lot for a babysitter.

$20-25 an hour is insane.

That's fine for you to say. I get that for only one child. Sorry.

You are overpaid.

Different parents have different expectations, my friend.

I suppose so. I expect a caretaker to take care of my child regardless of how much I pay. Because that's her job. I'm sorry if you only do your job for the money.

If you were my charity, I would agree. But normally I expect my compensation to be in line with the quality of service I provide. Don't you?

I have a friend who also offers to babysit on the side for extra money (it's not her full time job, she has another job outside her home.) She has agreed to babysit my three kids for 2 9-hour weekend days. Kids are 10, 6, and 4. What should I pay her?
