What's so strange? I was going to tell her in person but she did screw that plan up by being sick.

Op this sounds shady. She called to tell you about her illness and you tell her you are firing her? Really. Wow

Just let her go. Don't drag it out. Who in their right mind gets told they're being fired and says "Ok, but can I just work two more days?" That's not how being fired works. Clean break!

What happened that you want to fire her?

She should not be contagious at that point.

If you feel safe/comfortable letting her have those 2 days then do so.

A the least you should allow her to say goodbye to the child and pay her any remaining monies she is owed.

Well, the issue is not that she got sick, but she got the sick week I was letting her go.

This is why I don't hire nannies that get sick.

Not helpful replies, lol! I keep going back and forth and opinions here seem to be split.

If you trust her then please let her say goodbye.

Don't bother. She's been gone, let her go.

If she has been on antibiotics for at
least 24 hours, she is no longer contagious.

I do trust her. I'm just concerned about the strep and one or both of them melting down. DC is not yet old enough to ask about her but is always excited when she walks in.

Not with strep. It's not enough time.

Are you going to let her say goodbye to
your child? I would let her finish the week
as long as you trust her to do so.

Last week things blew up with out nanny and we made the decision to let her go. Before we could, she showed up yesterday morning with a sore throat. I sent her home and spent my unplanned vacation day disinfecting the house. She called today and said it was strep throat and her doctor said she could come back Thursday. I told her we were lettting her go and she asked if she could still come in Thursday and Friday. This was over text messages because of her sore throat.

My question is, should I let her? I don't thinks she would be so very contagious but do not really want to risk it. I also do not want to have DC have a meltdown, which happens when she initially came in yesterday but stayed back because she was sick. What would you do?
