If it was two years ago, I would regard it at this point as water under the bridge.

I wouldn't bat an eye.

If you do walk by their house or see them around, just ignore them and pretend they do not exist.

After all, they are soo 2013.

Take the job and if you see them look them straight in the eye and say "you owe me money"

If you do not take the job, OP, you are letting the bastard-family screw you over again.

Please do not deny yourself a good job because of assh*le ex-employers! Walk around with pride and self-confidence and look the ex-employers straight in the eye. You have nothing to be ashamed of - they do.

MB here. You should take the job. You should not worry at all about running into the old family. Look them straight in the eyes and hold your head high. You have nothing to be ashamed of. They do. You left them because you were slated for better, and now you've found better.

Given the circumstance you describe, I would take it. I thought maybe it was a family you worked for long term and it ended badly a month ago or something. You worked for them a month, it ended two years ago, I'd go for it. I had a family that ended badly. I worked for them for 2 yrs. It was several months before I could go into that neighborhood w/o having a panic attack. It's been close to 3 years and I'd take a job working for their next door neighbors if it came up.

I interviewed for a position and just received an offer. I really clicked with the parents and everything fits for me. The only annoyance is that they happen to live a block away from an old family that ended badly. I left after a month of them mistreating and not paying correct wages. I still have yet to receive any money and that family and I ended our relationship close to 2 years ago.

I worry a little about running into the old family but then again I don't think I should base my choices on the past. This new family can be really great for me and vice versa. WWYD?
