I'm with you on this one PP. I highly doubt many MB's would be so willing to forgive their employers if they didn't receive their paycheck on time, why should nannies have to be understanding? It's pretty simple and if you can't remember to pay someone on time, outsource that job too!
It's a crappy situation to put someone in where they feel obligated to ASK for money that is rightfully theirs, especially after receiving a gift (and yes, it makes nannies feel greedy, which just adds to the crappy factor).
I too am waiting on a paycheck from my employers from over two weeks ago!

This behavior is uncharacteristic of these employers, based on their past behavior (several years worth). Nothing has occurred recently (according to pp) to indicate that her employers are dissatisfied with her performance. The most reasonable explanation is that this was an oversight. You can be as sick as you want--pp asked for advice.

Maybe the "bonus" in the card was actually your paycheck and they aren't actually giving you an actual bonus this year...??

Are they having money issues? Or did you do a less than stellar job this year?

However, they should have properly compensated you at the very least for the children's gifts.

Or maybe that is part of the money given to you.

I don't know the actual amounts owed and spent so if you want more specific answers to that, you would have to give more specific numerical info.

Just mention it your first day back from work.

This just happened to me before Thanksgiving. I sent a text and said I'll be in the area tonight( sitting for another family) would it be alright if I picked up my paycheck then or should I wait till Monday?

Something similar with the gift mention the receipt or something.

On my last day of work I exchanged gifts with my employers. I normally recieve a weeks pay bonus along with a small gift for the past few years. This year we exchanged gifts as always and my bonus was in my xmas card. Well I'm always paid my check the last day before my vacation starts. well my employers forgot to pay me and I don't know how to bring it up without sounding greedy since I did recieve my xmas bonus. They also owe me for the last minute gifts I purchased for them to give to the children's preschool teacher. I know I should be direct but it's just so awkward after recieving a generous gift.
