Visit a nanny and housekeeper agency site and you'll see housekeepers almost always make more.

Typically housekeepers make more than nannies unless the nanny has an unusually high-paying position (many kids, special needs, household manager..).

House cleaners absolutely deserve to be paid more imo. They are cleaning and working with little to no downtime. My employer's housecleaner makes more than m3 hourly as she should and I have a cleaner every two weeks who I pay $85 and she is here for about 3-4 hours working hard.

And a garbage man is responsible for a $200,000 garbage truck, should they be paid a lot because of what they are responsible for?

There are many factors that would need to be considered before I could make a fair assessment OP.

Does the maid work the same exact hours that you do? Does she have the same benefits?

It is not productive to compare pay but I can see the question IMO a nanny should make more because of what they are responsible for

I'm paid 10 per hr the housekeeper is paid 20. I work 40 hrs per week and she works 10 hrs per week.

It's not uncommon for the hourly to be a bit higher, in the homes I have worked for the housekeepers worked fewer hours, and were paid bimonthly or monthly versus weekly.
In my current situation the housekeeper makes $25 to my $18.

She is paid monthly and I am paid weekly.

Does she work as many hours as you do? Housekeepers who work for multiple families usually make more because they lose a lot of potential working hours to driving from place to place, maintaining jobs with multiple employers, etc..

It's also pretty much expected that a housekeeper will keep moving for her entire time on the job, not take breaks (with or without NK) to sit for awhile.

In most cases yes. Being a housekeeper is more labor intensive than being a nanny especially for one child.

OP here and I'm happy with my job and feel decently-compensated (started at 18 an hour -- could have gotten more with another family as I have a BA in Early Childhood Development and experience as a preschool teacher but I wanted a newborn and this job was very close to my home).

I don't think you can really compare the 2 jobs, as we don't know what your individual duties are, or your personal qualifications. Personally I loathe housekeeping, and if my NF employed a full time housekeeper, I would fully expect her to make more than me. Before you saw her check, did you feel well compensated? If so, I'd let it go.
