Her being friends with your regular nanny is beside the point. She is acting as a backup childcare provider and is working for you. You pay her. If you pay your regular nanny is a different issue all together. You need to be working with your backup providers on your own.

You mean do I pay appropriate taxes, and do withholdings and remit for her if she requests? Of course.

Yes, we're comfortable with the friend. I had just assumed (obvs erroneously) that we would pay our nanny her regular salary and she would work out with the friend how to compensate. My b. We worked it out.

On the answer is discuss with your nanny/employer but I am just curious how others make this work. Nanny is over her limit of paid time off with all legitimateexcuses. She has a close friend who can sub. How does payment work?
