We found ours here on DCUM (youngest child of her former family was starting school, so they posted on her behalf). She's been with us for 3 years!

We found a brilliant nanny on care.com. It was a grind having to go through all the not-so-brilliant candidates but well worth the trouble in the end.

Just like everytime this is posted, the best place after word of mouth is a neighborhood listserv. SO for example if you live in Georgetown join the Georgetown listserv and post an ad and you will have families looking to help their nanny find a new job and local nannies themselves responding very quickly.

My family is new to the area and we are looking for a nanny. We don't know many people yet so our word of mouth options are limited. I have been looking on the nanny forums here at DCUM and have also looked at sitter city and care.com and have considered agencies. Just curious if there were any other options, where parents have found success, etc. If you have any ideas, would you please post here?
