Please don't. MB here. Our nanny buys us all gifts and we feel incredibly awkward about it - especially my husband. It really isn't necessary.

I think it depends on the NF. I have had some where I give fun gifts and others where I did nothing. If I give a gift it usually is something special to enjoy with the kids or a restaurant gift card and an offer to babysit one evening so they can actually use it.

MB here. Totally in agreement with PPs. if kids are old enough make them do some relevant art & craft thing. Maybe bake something. My bday is in summer, so the nanny had kids collect flowers in the back yard to make a nice bouquet. Nothing "from a store" is expected or wanted.

This. Or, bake cookies or brownies. Or, if you want to, a photo and frame of the kids.

No. Just say happy birthday. It would be so awkward to give dad a gift!! I mean, to the kids, that's totally ok. But to the parents? No no no.

I wouldn't want you to. I don't like celebrating my birthday and don't want an employee giving me a gift.

I have the kids do something if they are old enough a craft or simple baked treat.

I've been with my family for 3+ months and dad's birthday is at the end of this month. Do I buy him a gift? If so, what on earth do I get!?
I nannied for a family for 6 years before this and I definitely got them gifts, but I felt like more of a part of their family. I feel like more of an employee here. I'd still like to do something for him, so any suggestions are welcome!
