Hopefully this is a babysitting job and don't go back.
Are you at their house? Are you still making sure the children are ok? Can you just leave and go out with friends? Can you crack open a beer or two and relax? Can you call some friends and have them come over for a movie night??
You are WORKING. Please stand up for yourself. Just because you are a people pleaser doesn't mean you should be a door mat
You are absurd. It may be work, and get work may be worth $X per hour during the day, but it is totally reasonable to take a pay cut to watch TV while the kids sleep. If the parents ask you to babysit outside of normal work hours is because it's convenient for them, extra money for you, and might be a win-win but if you don't want to do it just say no.
As for OP, same thing, if you are so stuck up that you feel you deserve your normal daytime working rate to watch TV while kids sleep then you are more than welcome to tell her no, you need your full rare, and go with your idea to offer to help her find a local sitter for the future. Maybe they will get lucky and find a new many too.
You are an effing idiot.
Agree. I was going to respond but decided that you can't argue with stupid.![]()
Then why is it that nannying is the only job where people who work over 40 hours a week should be lowering their rates rather than receiving OT?
Anonymous wrote:Tell her you've thought it over and cannot lower your rate. Unless you can party, drink beer, etc., then you are still working. You tell her this immediately and stop beinv a people pleaser.
Anonymous wrote:Your posts are very confusing, OP. Does she want you to lower your regular rate during the day? Or does she want to pay less for evening sitting?
Because if she wants you to lower your regular rate during the day for naps or whenever, no way. That is ridiculous.
However, if she wants to pay less for evening sitting outside of your regular job, she can certainly set a lower rate, but she shouldn't expect you to accept it. In other words, she should be employing a different babysitter in the evening at whatever rate she wants to pay.
Of course, if you *want* the extra evening hours, then you might have to accept a different rate. I'm not saying you *should* accept a lower rate. I'm just saying there is nothing wrong with paying an evening babysitter less than a daytime nanny because they are different jobs.
