Maybe you are the problem? I know just because I am being paid well does not mean I will do a good job if the family is a pain and doesn't seem to respect me. Money isn't everything.

This is why I will never hire a woman who is hinting at getting pregnant or in a long term relationship with plans to have a baby "in the future" because as we all know those plans get pushed up by little "accidents."

Thank you guys. Honestly I am not sure what to make of this. She has been coming in late almost every day and by late I mean 15 minutes to 30 minutes late since she informed us about her pregnancy. She also refused to take DS to an activity last week because she was not "feeling too good," she justs sits on the couch with her cellphone ignoring my DS... I would really hate to get to a point of letting her go... We actually offered her 6 weeks paid maternity leave when she announced her pregnancy which I think is very generous considering she has been with us for only 4 months. I am not sure if we should have held the offer until she is almost due...

Can you give us some other examples OP?

Sure, when you are pregnant, it is more challenging to do certain tasks I know this.

But I think she is just hoping you will let her go, then claim you unjustly fired her for being pregnant and try to collect unemployment for just cause.

Warn, but start looking for a new nanny. As pregnancy progresses her attitude it not going to improve. Sooner or later it will get to the point of you needing someone else.

If she actually said this, then my guess is she was having a bad day (maybe feeling sick and tired).

That doesn't make it acceptable, but it might give you a way to approach her.

If, on the other hand, she has decided that being pregnant means taking it easy to the tune of basically ignoring your son until she delivers, that warrants a different conversation, one that includes talking about what her plans are as she progresses, and that reminds her of her job description.

How old is DS?? How do you know for sure? Is he at An agE where you can know for sure. There is probably more to this story

I would just ignore it and let it go

I would talk to her. Tell her to come to you if she feels that she's no longer able to do certain aspects of her job because of her pregnancy. And also discuss what kind of plans should be in place in case she can no longer do her job.

I would be upset. Just because shes pregnant does not mean she can not perform her duties as a Nanny.

Our nanny seems to be using her pregnancy as an execuse not to get the job done. Yesterday, DS requested help with his hair ( he has limited hand function due to injury) but she said since she is pregnant she wasn't going to " mess with his hair" and on top of that, she is not a "hair stylist." I think if she had a problem with her responsibilities she should address with me instead of taking it out on DS. This is just one of the many issues. Your thoughts?
