I think they first toss out their ring into the circus per say.
Just to see if there are any takers. And if so, who.
Then when they see realistically what types are out there, they start to see that either they wisen up and a). Pay a decent nanny rate or b). Go with their Plan B. and send their child to daycare.

Yes, and it sounds like they know their super low salary is only going to attract sub-par candidates.

At least $8 meets minimum wage. I wouldn't do all that for that amount, but I see some wanting that for $4 an hour and I know nannies that agree to those wages.
To answer try the question I see these families frequently looking for a nanny.
I understand that not everyone works hours that fit with daycare. I understand that not everyone has family that can look after the kids.
What I don't understand is how demanding and inflexible some families can be.
They refuse to consider a share. Refuse to acknowledge that the reason they can't find or keep as nanny may be related to the pay rate.
I feel for the kids that have to live with revolving nannies.

No kidding. I made six dollars an hour babysitting the neighborhood kid when I was in Junior High.
My guess is that they meant $16/hr.

My favorite are the activities, housework, laundry, cooking, shopping, tutoring, other errands, for the entire family, four kids, three pets, 50 hours/weekdays plus every Friday and Saturday night for $8.00/hour posts. Who would ever agree to that?!?

I am angry just reading about these predatory employers. $6 is so little. I would learn to grow my own food and wash clothes by hand before I asked someone to accept such a dismal pay rate.

I think they eventually find someone but that it's a rotating door of caregivers. I interviewed with a family a few months ago that wanted 50 hrs of care for 150 per week. I was obviously in shock at the salary as they had a beautiful home and could probably afford to pay market rate if not more. But insisted 150 was as high as they would go for a nanny/ housekeeper. But they had a nanny already and she was quitting . So she was willing to take the job I don't know if she was legal I'm guessing not. I believe they said she was their second nanny and the child was about 9 months old.

So I see jobs on care.com and sittercity that are trying to find help at $6 an hour, the people seem like they are in desperate situations with work and such and since they don't make much I must assume they don't have much flexibility to keep taking time off while they search for childcare. So assuming no one will ever respond to such a job what happens to these people? Do they just get fired? Do they find illegals? Do they eventually come back and offer more? Do people apply and tell them they will consider the job for more money? I'm so curious now.
For example there is a job on sittercity right now with a woman who needs her child picked up from school and watched from 4pm all the way until midnight. Her pay range is $6-8..... I just can't fathom how she will solve her childcare issue.
