She scheduled the appointment, I don't know if it would be appropriate or legal for me to reschedule. She works 10 hour days, and I am often here for 12 hours.

I mean for future appointments, not to reschedule the current appointment.

Good point.

I will take notes.

Want to add: some doctors let you call mom on speakerphone if her work could accommodate that (maybe time it to coincide with a pumping break).

I have done this tons of times. I had a set of charges with a chronic illness and it was just not practical for parents to go to every doctor/specialist/er visit and well-visits were easy to skip.

1) ask her in advance whether she has any concerns that she'd like you to ask about (write them down so you remember)
2) take notes during the visit, especially on her questions if any
3) text her a pic of baby as soon as he/she is happy again post-shot
4) once baby is calm and you are back in the car, call her with and update, or email a detailed update RIGHT THEN when it is all fresh in your mind
5) downplay the emotional significance and remind her that the real hard part of the shots will be tonight when baby may not sleep as well or may not want to wake to eat (different babies react differently). Say you are so glad he/she will be with Mommy then.

Is there really no way at all that your MomBoss can bring her baby to his first appointment? I think she must be so sad to miss his first check-up, but I guess it is what it is.

I would ask the Dr.'s office first before you actually go in recording anything.

I wouldn't do it w/out letting the Dr. know.

I think it'd be nice for you to ask the doctor if they have early morning, late evening or weekend hours so the mother can bring her baby.

Does the doctors office even allow this?

Ugh... pressed enter too soon.

MB maternity just ended. I'm taking NK to his first well visit appointment solo. MB work wouldn't allow her to take off, doesn't seem like they treat her too well.

I've worked for her since the birth of NK. She is reserved, so I can't read her personality too well.

I can tell she has guilt about missing his first round of vaccines, how can I help ease her guilt? Should I assure her? Not say anything?

Would it be bizarre if I offered to record the visit so she knew what the doctor said?

NK seems healthy and typical, and I'm not expecting anything other than the usual this appointment.
