OP here. I do think it's not fair because it's not my choice of staying late. I do babysit every other weekend and one week night on a regural basis for one family and I charge them $17/h I do appreciate I'm paid even for 10min late, I understand traffic etc but they are late at least 1-2 times a week, EVERY week. I NEVER work less than 50 hours a week and one week in a month I work 60 hours (both moms travel for work). I'm not complaing, I love both families, both babies and actually we just added another part time kid. I'm just asking what you all think. Wrong forum. Appreatly there are too many haters on this forum who cannot express their opinion without being rude!

OP, I get a dollar an hour more than you for two from the same family, so no worry about splitting OT and such (and honestly one family is just easier than a share any which way you look at it) so you definitely have room to move up. You could always consider trading up for a new NF.

What does your work agreement say? Mine specifies the OT rate for one child and the OT rate for two children.

Well, I suppose legally you are entitled to your combined overtime rate. Someone shared a link to the law and I believe it was about your families technically being joint employers.

However, you'd be a real jerk to ask for it under these circumstances. I don't get paid overtime for less then ten minutes. In exchange no one tries to dock my pay if I am a few minutes late. That is what's reasonable.

Jeez OP - you really sound pretty freaking difficult. If you have employers that are paying you for 10 minutes of late time you are very lucky.

I suppose technically you are entitled to the overtime rate but is it worth the ill will? It doesn't make you look good. And you would be easily replaced at the hourly rate you're earning. Tons of nannies would love to have your problem.

I've been working in a share over a year now and make $24/h and $36/h overtime. I work 50 hours a week. Sometimes one family is late and im always paid for this time (even if they are "only" 10 min late). My question is if I should expect to be paid their individual overtime rate which is $18/h or my overtime rate -$36/h
I'm paid their individual rate but honestly I don't think it's fair. There are week that I work extra 1h (total 51) and instead of making extra $36 I make $18 Everything adds up
