I think it will be difficult to keep someone long term. For example, If you hire a student, maybe their schedule changes each semester. Maybe someone with school age kids who don't need to be picked up would be interested. Do you have a neighborhood forum you can post to?

As others have said anything is possible.
If you decide to go the nanny\housekeeper route. My suggestion is 2 days of the nanny doing 10 to 6 . The two hours before pickup can be used for household chores.

But what you must keep in mind here OP, is that considering that children change from day to day, so do their sleeping habits.

Go into the General Parenting Discussion for example. You will hear stories of parents whose children went for sleeping 3 hours during the day to 15 minute naps seemingly overnight! If you do not believe me, I dare you to go into that forum + read some of those crazy stories yourself!

So I do not think a housekeeping position is realistic here because when if your daughter sleeps two hours a day one day, then the next day w/the nanny/sitter she only naps for like 1/2 hour? It may get confusing....

Our nanny does laundry while our child is sleeping, so that isn't necessarily too much to ask, but the hours you are seeking are going to be tough. You might want to post at local elementary schools/pre-schools for people who want to share hours of a nanny.

same here. I definitely think it's not a job that would be universally appealing, but you could most likely find someone.

Pp, I'm glad I saw your eloquent answer to previous poster because I was about to go off on Judgy 19:59. Someone looking for work only 2 days a week can only mean one thing, right,, the person is " lazy or tires easily"..... Sheeesh!!

Or maybe the person who only wants two days a week takes classes the other three days or works as a night nanny and needs to sleep at some point or maybe they have rehearsals for something three days a week, or maybe they want to make sure they have time for their own family, or maybe they're lucky enough to only need to work two days a week. Just throwing out some alternatives to thinking the person is lazy or tires easily.

Anything is possible. If someone already has a job the other 3 days of the week, or for some reason only wants 2 days of worth (maybe because she is lazy or tires easily) then yes. But mostly you already know, anyone would leave as soon as they found a 5 day a week job that pays triple what you are offering.

I would like to find either a babysitter/nanny (I'm sorry if I am using the wrong terminology here) who can pick my daughter up from school at 12:15, take her home, feed her, play with her, put her down for a nap etc and stay with her until about 5-6pm twice per week. (I would set the end time in advance and stick to it).

OR, what would be even better would be a nanny/housekeeper who would essentially do the same duties except do some housework during her two hour nap (so four hours of this total per week). Could possibly guarantee more hours for more housework. It would not be heavy cleaning as we have a cleaning lady, more like doing laundry and just keeping things tidy around the house, maybe emptying dishwasher or something.

Is it really possible to find someone to do this only twice per week who is satisfied with the minimal amount of hours and would not leave at the drop of a hat for more hours?
