If all he does is sleep all day then why do you need a nanny,
Work at home DH can handle your little bundle of joy and work, no?

Well since your child will be sleeping so much, then your nanny will practically be doing nothing all day, right??

I mean, caring for 9 week old is a walk in the park. As everyone knows. All they do all day is sleep like sweet little cherubs.

Try going into the Parent Discussion section and read how tough it is to care for a child that age lady.

Do some research. After you finish your homework, you will be able to answer your own question.

OP - if you are looking for a one- off sitter for occassional near-term date night, then by all means focus on what your child is doing right now as driving the appropriate wage.

if you instead need a nanny that you plan to keep for a year or two at least then obviously your child will sleep less in a relatively short amount of time so it makes no sense to try to base the wage off what he's doing at this particular moment.

You are getting a good rate for such a low number of hours if you're in the metro-distance DC area.

Please stop.

$15 an hour is not appropriate to sit on the couch while a baby sleeps. Get your head out of your ***

Yes because we all know babies will never get sick, never cry, never need to be fed, they won't crawl or need any attention at all from a nanny because they sleep all day. Makes total sense no .

15 is a very good wage I would have charged 18

How much experience does she have? If she has little to no experience 15 is too much. If she is qualified 15 isn't that much and actually a great deal.

Please do some research on previous threads. This question has been presented multiple times.

Just because he sleeps a lot now doesn't mean that will continue for long.

Expect to pay a little more for a part time nanny. $15 is totally median wage.

If this is a serious question and you live in the DC area, then what she is asking is fine. Consider yourself lucky that she isn't asking for more.

We are in the market for a nanny for our first child to start in November.
We interviewed with one lady and really liked her.
The thing is she wanted $15 an hour which works out to $360 a week. We think nearly $400 is a little much for only 24 hours a week. Our son is only 9 weeks old and he sleeps most of the time. Outside of watching him we only ask she clean his bottles.
Is she asking for too much?
