I think if you normally work 7am - 4pm (for example), and the family asks if next week you can work 9am -6pm, you should tell them
If it works or doesn't work for you. You should not accept the change and then expect two additional hours of overtime. It's pretty obvious that's not what is happening. Now, if they just tell you you can come in late one day, and then happen to be late getting home, I think you can discuss extra pay.
