I generally have to work from home about half of those days and don't get off on President's Day or MLK Day.
The nanny gets two weeks (ten days) of paid vacation per year - one week of her choosing, and one of ours. She earns a certain number of hours of vacation per each pay period throughout the year. So there's no taking a two-week vacation in the second month of employment.
I think this is also what I give, though I do Xmas Eve rather than day after. I also give 12 days PTO, all her choosing. No additional sick leave (rolled into the PTO), but guaranteed hours (she's paid when we don't need her).
I don't give Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, MLK Day since one or both of us will have to work, and I would rather give more than one day at Xmas and TG.
