They can't pay you if they don't have the money. I would not push too much on this issue for fear of rocking the boat and losing your job. You can't make them do something. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this response though.
This PP is completely unreasonable. It doesn't matter how much money you have or don't have in savings -- that is YOUR paycheck, YOU earned it. I can almost guarantee their companies have never asked to give them their paycheck late. Whether you want to spend it on bills, shopping, saving, whatever -- it's YOUR money. Absolutely not okay for them to do this.
Regardless of how you feel about this job, I would consider quitting if she doesn't pay you on time. If they do it once they are bound to do it again. Not paying somebody on time is a huge sign of disrespect. I would be (and am) appalled.
