I never kiss my charges on the lips but cheeks, forehead, top of their heads I do.

I think pp was trying to pretend to be a mb and slipped calling them charge vs children. Sorry but you can't blane autocorrect for that one lol

I don't mind if my nanny kisses my charge on their face, arms, legs, and tummy but not on the lips. That's only because of the potential for germs to be transferred from mouth to mouth. My nannies have all been very affectionate to my kids and I like that!

One of the reasons my kid's not in daycare is to avoid colds and such. Kissing her kind of defeats the purpose of that.

It's completely bizarre to me to kiss someone on the lips who I'm not romantically involved with, but I kiss my charges on the cheek all the time, they're so adorable! My 1.3yo is just starting to give kisses and he loves kissing me on the nose, and it is the cutest thing ever. I've had almost ten charges by now and I've never had a parent complain that I kissed them/they kissed me.

I personally don't like anyone kissing my on the lips except for my husband. I kissed my parents on the cheek, and if a child or adult goes in for a kiss, I move my face so they get my cheek. I kiss kids on the cheek or forehead. But never on the lips - but that's my "thing."

I've nannied for 20 years. I've always given kisses. I've been with my current family for 3 years. The two younger ones(2&3) would not let me leave at night if I didn't give them a kiss. Heck, even the older ones want a kiss which I'm iffy on.

Yes. Every charge I've had (6 total) I've kissed on the forehead or cheek.

Never the mouth, because of germs and bacteria. I feel like that may cross a line for some people, but I've had toddler charges want to kiss me on the lips.

I kiss my charges all the time. They are so adorable I can hardly help it. Their parents have never complained.

I kiss and hug all my charges all the time. I've also pecked on the lips. I never saw anything wrong with since this is how I was raised and the people around me did it too. It wasn't until I met someone who was assaulted as a child did I realize how it could make others uncomfortable. I've been lucky to find employers who have similar views as me so I've never been reprimanded. I would absolutely stop if a family was uncomfortable but it would be difficult since it's my first and instinct to kiss and hug. I guess people should ask before and take into consideration cultural differences before accepting a position if this is something that comes naturally for you.

I saw my nanny kissed my toddler on a few occasions. I have no problem with that -- my daughter is so cute I think it shows that nanny got attached to her. I think it depends on personality of the nanny. I'm also from Europe so kisses on the cheeks to me are common (the nanny is not from Europe though).

No I don't but if I'm in an awkward situation and it comes up or I'm asked. I kiss my own hand then put it on top of there head. Ya I know kinda strange.

I got to wondering if other people kiss their charges? When I go to hug my charges when I leave they sometimes say, "kiss." I normally just turn my cheek so they kiss my cheek instead of my lips. The parents have never said anything and don't seem upset. But in light of the saying, "I love you" post now I'm wondering if that is weird. So nannies do you kiss your charge, or parents would this upset you if you saw this happen with your nanny?
