10 years ago I was getting $12 an hour for three kids in Boca Raton.

Oversupply of nannies in Orlando, Miami and Lauderdale. So that plus the lower cost of living than here in DC land keeps the rates lower than here.
$10ph 2 kids.

Your sister is a low-balling law breaker.

Perhaps, but the majority of her friends pay $10. thats the going rate down there - like it or not. There is lots and lots of cheap labor and most of them clean as well. Her nanny is amazing.

OP, depends which part of Florida, I am sure.

And how is your response is more helpful?

I think the lack of response reflects the level of ability and interest to effectively reply to such a broad question, with so few details (number of kids, hours, benefits, location, blah blah blah), for a region this group does not primarily reflect. Sure, anyone from anywhere can be active here - but it is predominately reflective of the capital regions. Hence the DC in its name.

Mine is helpful. I asked for more information. A nanny in Ft Lauderdale is paid differently than one in the Panhandle.

RIght - if the OP said more maybe we could help. Your answer is helpful, it's inquisitive. Which is fine and appropriate, but it didn't answer OPs question.

If it helps, my sister-in-law paid about $11/hr for a part time nanny (who was a dance teacher I think in her other time) for watching 2 preschool age kids in Gainesville,Florida. Ok, one data point

While care.com is not accurate, I think it provides acceptable reference point. For my area care said that average rate is
$12.35, and I think actual rate for a good nanny without education and <5 years experience is about $15. So maybe you can take that ratio and apply to wherever you are Florida?
