I think they are easier to install with a seatbelt, try that.

Provide a car for nanny. Case closed

You're in a tough spot OP. Since it is the nanny's car you can't insist that she keep the car seats installed all the time. I think you should buy an easier car seat to install though if she is having trouble. I'm car seat safety certified and I must admit Britax definitely is one of the more challenging seats to install. Also, using the LATCH system is preferable but not if she's going to be taking the seats in and out every week. How far and how often does she drive your kids? If it's not far or often I don't see why installing car seats every Monday would be a problem. Provided she is taught how to install them properly.

You need to install your child's seat. Britax is starting to make the click tight on all its seat. Makes it very easy to install with a belt.

Why is it absurd to expect that an employee be able to read and follow printed and demonstrated directions??

What is absurd is that there are nannies who can't and still believe that they deserve no less than $20/hr for their "services".

Or you could just hire a nanny who is proficient in carseat installation (and/or reading and following directions?). Chances are, if you have done it more than one time, you can figure it out again with most brands. I have always used my car for nanny positions. If I want to re-install the seats every week it is certainly my responsibility to know what I am doing. And guess what? It's not actually brain surgery!!!
My, it is a sad state of affairs when we are considering basic child safety knowledge to be a specialized and elite requirement.

Can you install using the seat belt instead of LATCH? She may find it easier.

You can go over proper installation with her.

You can install it for her every Monday.

You can try another brand of carseat.

You can provide her with a nanny car with a permanently installed carseat.

You cannot order her to keep the carseat in her car over the weekend.

Op, ignore all the anoles here. Better than the instruction manual, show her how to do it a couple times and watch her do it a couple times.

You can also try another brand. Britax is pretty hard to install. There are other ones that are easier.

Why can't you just explain it to her in English? Doesn't she speak English? Why would you hire someone that can not communicate/comprehend the common language well enough to the point that it is an actual safety issue?

You can go online and print the directions in Spanish from the britax website.

As for leaving it in her car, that's unreasonable to ask. It is her car and if she needs the space on weekends then it's within her right to remove it. I'm assuming you don't offer a car or pay her more to keep it installed permanently. You cannot dicate what stays in. I'd send her to a local police station to watch them install it and offer directions in Spanish. Explain the liability that an incorrectly installed car seat can cause.

Whose car is it? Yours or hers? Because if it's hers it doesn't seem reasonable to expect her to keep it in all the time.

Our nanny now wants to take the britax car seat out of her car Fridays, leave it, and then have it back Monday mornings so she can drive our 1 yo to playdates, etc.

Problem is she thinks she knows how to install it but she cannot. She tried this morning and hit a wall. She can't get one side on the latch, then it is loose and wobbly, the angle is wrong, too much slack on the tether. This is a serious safety issue.

What is the best way to teach her to do it? Practice more? If she wants to be taking it in/out on a weekly basis she is going to have to learn. Plus she should always be adjusting it so it is safe and protects the child well. I cannot be checking it or installing it all the time for her. She needs to know how to fix it and install it. She needs to know the importance of a car seat and why it must be incorrectly.

Is there any literature or steps in Spanish somewhere that can help her?

Otherwise, she is going to have to leave the car seat in her car all the time, which she has done for the last several months.
