And also, do not dress down too much as in cleavage bearing tank tops of short shorts because you will look like you are just a cheap hooker

Sounds perfect.

Don't dress too formal which would look like you are trying too hard plus it would show you are truly clueless about kids because who plays with kids in dresses and skirts/heels?

I would say that the most important thing is that you look neatly put together (and I agree, if you showed up wearing a suit, I wouldn't take that as a positive!). What you are thinking of sounds great.

I don't think what you wear matters,as long as it's appropriate attire. I have gone on interviews wearing nice skirts a nice shirt and shoes and didn't get the job.My last interview I wore nice capri pants a nice blouse and sandals.I got this job. In all cases I was going to care for a infant baby. I did make sure my toes were freshly manicured.
As long as you are neat and clean that's all that matters.

OP here and thank you for the comments. I figured I was correct but like I said his looks like my dream nanny job, so I want everything to be perfect for the interview.

if you wore a business suit i would assume you don't know much about kids and the mess that accompanies them and won't be open to getting on the floor to play.

if you wear nice jeans and a sweater i'll assume you do.

What you're going to wear sounds fine.

I have my first interview with a family in their home and I was wondering what I should wear. I really like this family and I don't want to mess it up. Where I live it is low 60's today so I was planning to wear dressy dark wash jeans, black flats, and a nice lighter sweater. Does this sound dressy enough? I usually dress this way for home interviews because I want the kids to feel comfortable around me. Is my thinking correct or should I wear actual interview attire?
