I see that as a little weird.

Could you get them to perhaps elaborate as to why they do not??

I mean...if they were paying you under the table and the father was running for governor I could see why (!), but they seem to be doing everything by the book.

Maybe it is because they know as you should, that contracts are not legally binding since in this country, anyone who works at a job is an "at will" employee and no one is bound legally to a job either as an employer or employee.

You can't make them create a contract. Obviously you don't have to take the job but of otherwise it's a good fit why not give it a try.

OT laws do not always apply to hours worked in a day, in some states it is based on hours per week worked.

I was interviewed by a family and they want pay the nanny on the books.
They Said in person that nanny would work Monday to Friday and would have sick days, two week vacations and federal Holidays off. I asked the family a contract. They said: " We don't do that" .
They request my background check, talked with my references, want to see my social and greencard, And sure They have a company to do the payrolls and I will pay taxes on my salary.
I don't know what think. Once I'm going to pay taxes I think We both should have a contract.
There is a couple days in the week I work over 10hours without overtime.
Is that a reason the family does not want to provide me a contract?
