Lunch is not the issue. If her daughter is suffering from mental healt issues, then she does NOT get to accompany her mom to work with young children. WTF? She is either fine and should be in school or seriously disturbed and should not be with kids.

Why are you asking her to come to the hospital to spend time with you? That's odd. Do you not have family or friends who can stay with you?

If I ask our nanny to accompany us somewhere then I pay for her meals.

I wouldn't be comfortable with her child(ren) coming along regularly. If she's working/on the clock then her kids, especially a teenager, shouldn't be around. If it's a more social thing to which I've invited them then I'd feel more inclined to pay for the daughter as well.

+1. My employer pays for my meals when we eat out while I am working. I would never expect my employer to pay for someone else's meal. I also do not get the most expensive thing on the menu.

I"d pay but set a limit. I can see paying for nanny and your child but she should pay for her own child.

There is no reason to pay for a nanny's child. The nanny's child should never be with her at work, especially if she is 16.

If you are sending your nanny on an outing with your child, and lunch out is part of the plan, then you pay.

You can avoid that extra expense by asking the nanny to have meals at home.

If your nanny chooses to visit you and your child in the hospital on her own time, you don't pay for her lunch.

It's a bad idea to give your nanny free access to your food at home. Clearly, this is where she gets the idea that you should always pay for her and her teen. She can bring her own lunch.

Well if your nanny is required to accompany your child on an outing that requires your child to eat out somewhere, then I would think it would only be common courtesy to provide some money for your nanny to purchase something for herself as well. For her daughter, not so much.

Any time I've ever been out to eat with my charges, my food is included. But if I'm out and about with my charges and decide to grab a quick cup of coffee, I pay for that myself. I would never expect my MB to pay for any additional guests (such as your nanny's daughter).

My 2 cents: she needs to go at a different time, and/or pack lunches sometimes. Unless this is a regular "treat" for your daughter (which....fast food regularly? Yuck.)

The hospital scenario: if you're requiring her to be there around lunch, it would be in good taste to pay for her meal. Is this a regular thing?

But yes, if you are requiring her to go on the outing, you need to provide her with food, unless the outing is close enough for her to go to your home where she has "free access to all your food."

My nanny sometimes wants to get her 16 year old daugheter who doesnt go to school coz she says she is depressed.
And then when I tell her to take the kids to the park and all i have to pay for everyones lunches as well.

My 4 year old kid will eat like $6 kids meal but the nanny and daughter will run up a bill of $25 or so!
Just want to know if that is typical or if I am being taken for a ride here!

Yes. You are the boss and it's presumably your idea to go out and eat so you pay. I don't really understand the part about the hospital, but if she is there at your request then yes you pay for her.

Do I need to pay for nanny's lunch when we go on local outings?
She has free access to all our food when she is at home though but am not sure what to do when we go out.
And sometimes she wants to get her 16 year old daughter along so we end up paying for 2 people.

What about when my child is in the hospital and she comes in and stays with me for some hours
and then if I go to lunch in the hospital cafeteria do I need to pay for her lunch as well?
