I agree...Maybe they want you there as a "back-up" just in case they may need you.

Regardless, if you prefer not to come in that early, you can always diplomatically have a talk w/them and let them know.

Perhaps they are not aware of how you feel about this.

Open communication works wonders.

Why don't you ask her if she wants this to be a permanent change to your hours. If so, ask her if there is something specific she wants you to do. If not, I would organize something or do laundry.

As long as you're getting paid...
Why don't you do the kiddie laundry while you're sitting or reorganize the toys, or something to be useful during that time?

It's annoying, and I'd ask them if I didn't want to be there then. Otherwise it's easy money.

Why don't you ask them? Maybe they need you even earlier?

Rant: Ok, so for the past 2 weeks or so, MB has asked me to come in at 8am instead of 9am. However, when I get here, DB is putting my oldest NK on the bus to preK day camp, and the little one is still asleep. I usually end up just sitting in the livingroom doing absolutely nothing while MB gets ready for work. By the time DB gets home from the bus stop, the little NK is usually just waking up or wakes up shortly after. DB usually always runs to her bedroom before me or takes her from my arms if I get her from her crib. Then I just end up sitting here for another hour or so while DB plays with the baby in their bedroom and MB gets ready for her day. That's an hour and a half every morning that I've just been sitting here by myself. I don't understand why they want me to show up so early when theres really no purpose. I feel like it's kind of a waste if my time and theirs since DB always takes care of the baby until they both leave for work. I'm just confused as to why they've asked me to come in early, and then don't let me do anything. It's just odd.
