I agree with PP. I had 6 weeks between being hired for and beginning my current position. MB and I both reached out in that time (1x each). It calmed me down a bit when she called and said "please still be our nanny!"

MB here. I wouldn't check in too often. Maybe at the beginning of september to say that you're looking forward to starting, hope all is well, etc...
Then I'd follow up a week or two before your start date (if in October?).
Absolutely you want to make sure things are solid, but I wouldn't do more than two check-ins. It's also likely they'll want to check in w/ you, if they're smart.

Subject: How to keep the lines of communication open when new job doesn't start for a couple of months?
I have been hired for a full-time nanny position with a family who is due to have their first baby in October. So my start date is several months away (which is fine with me; my current position will end at the end of September, giving me several weeks off before my new position starts).
Anyway, I am really excited about the position. The parents seem like wonderful people and we have a very solid, detailed, written contract already in place.
Now all I have to do is wait. I would like to keep in touch with the family on a limited basis during that time, but don't want to "bug" them. Any ideas on what to do? Maybe every few weeks just send them a brief note letting them know I'm still looking forward to starting? Would that seem too clingy?
