A leaving bonus? Wow, in my 13 years as a nanny I've never even heard of that. I've been given a sweet card and usually a gift card around $50 and I always thought it was VERY sweet and generous of the families. You sound like a great employer and I'm sure your nanny will appreciate any token of affection you give her. It's a hard job being a nanny, mainly because after you've put in years of love and hard work you need to move on.

Wtf? PP, a leaving BONUS is exactly that - a bonus. It isn't the same as severance and it is absolutely irrelevant what a nanny's future employment looks like; they either earn a bonus or they don't.

OP, I think even one week's pay would be a great compliment to your nanny and would make her feel deeply appreciated. No need to do two if it will be a hardship - but of course, go for it if you really loved your nanny and want to be generous.

A leaving bonus is unnecessary if she has another job already lined up. Of course, it is a kind gesture, but, as such, it can be any amount you want to gift her with.

Two weeks salary is very, very generous.

(Of course, if you were laying her off and she did not have another job lined up, severance of two weeks is important. That isn't your situation, of course.)
