-My own separate place to live. I would want to have a place that I can make my own meals, keep my personal items and also have people over. If I lived within the family home I would feel like I have to do everything on the family's time.
-Be guaranteed that I would only work a certain schedule. Live-ins get taken advantage of a lot. I wouldn't want to be paid for 7:30 AM-5:30 PM and then end up having to work until 8 PM. I would also want to know that it isn't automatically assumed that I can babysit on a weekend even if I will be at home.
-That I would actually be paid a fair wage even though rent, utilities, etc. would be covered. I have seen so many ads on Care.com for people wanting to exchange childcare for a place to stay. I work to not only pay my mandatory bills, but also to have fun, go on trips, go to school, etc.
So ... you want to be a live-in who ... lives OUT?
As strange as it sounds when PP wrote it out, this is exactly the types of jobs I take. Many families want to have a personal nanny that they can count on but don't want her actually in their space 24/7. For example my current family rents me a 2 bedroom nearby, I can walk, bike, or take the metro. That is worth about $2000 a month, and then they pay me $2000 a month in addition to that. So for me I love it, they are happy, I am happy.
Yay! Win-win. They're smart and so are you.

Also, I would love ideas: where can I find a reliable live-in nanny? TIA
