$15-18/hr will get you many good candidates, OP. If you have an unusual schedule or need the nanny to drive to activities or prep dinner, then you may want to go up to $20, but no need to go higher than that.

No one pays $35/hr. That poster is a known troll who posts this outrageous rate on every thread about rates.

A lot depends on which part time hours you need. We pay $15 for evening babysitting where the kids will be asleep for much of each shift and $18 for daytime and late afternoon/early evening care that involves significant engagement with the kids and dinner prep. You might need to pay a little more for a nanny with own car who can start at 3 pm for after- school duties, because demand for the post-school time slot rivals supply. If you need care after 5:00 or 5:30 pm, you will have a lot of good options in women who have other jobs during the day but want to pick up extra hours.
