I've seen quite a few ads on Care.com wanting nannies to work 30+ hours a week and wanting to pay in the $150-300 range. I've also gotten some messages from families looking to pay $150-300 a week and I always politely introduce myself and tell them in my 1st message that my rate starts at $15 per hour for up to 40 hours of care and $22.50 for all hours after 40 per week. They usually don't message me back after that.

I'm impressed that you have daycares at that price! (But yes, household employees, which includes nannies, must be paid at least the federal minimum wage of $7.25, or more if you have a higher local minimum wage. That's been the law for 30+ years.)

Do you think that those are fake posts? For example, a nanny is trying to understand how her profile looks compared to other nannies, and creates a fake family profile. The way care.com works, it kind of forces you to post a job before you can do anything. So then the nanny goes ahead and makes up whatever stuff she wants...

I guess I just can't imagine any MB that is seriously looking for a nanny thinking that $150 per week is a reasonable price. It is even lower than typical at home daycare fee...
