I've received everything from large cash amounts to personalized photo mugs and many gift cards in between. A family that I had only been with for 6 weeks before my birthday sent me an Amazon gift card via email which was AMAZING (and is now my go to gift for people I don't feel comfortable getting anything too personal for).
All of this said, I NEVER expect anything and am always grateful for whatever I receive.

I started my job one month before my birthday so I was still very new. MB gave me flowers and bought my lunch. It was very sweet. The years since then I've received flowers and $50 gift card to a favorite store or restaurant.

I get a handmade card from the kids, flowers, and a $200 bonus for my birthday (I've been there two years, same gift both birthdays).

MB here. Just curious, what message do you think a gift card sends that's wrong?

Since your relationship is relatively brand-new, I wouldn't get her anything too pricey as this may be overkill for both of you OP.

How about a gift card no more than say $50. And how about picking up something yummy before you come home from work? My boss did this for me and I was so happy!

She picked me up some delicious cupcakes from this upscale bakery that I have never heard of and they were awesome.

Another nice thing is to bring a candle and light it and have the child sing "Happy Birthday" personally to her. Priceless.

It's the little things that truly make a difference.

I received a gift card ($50) and framed picture of the baby and me. Very sweet. I'd only been with them for five months at the time of my birthday.

I think a gift card is your best bet: coffee shop, sephora, clothing store, restaurant...

I gave a $25 giftcard to the coffee chain she likes with a card signed by all of us.

Our nanny's birthday is later this month. I would like to get her a small birthday present from my son and perhaps a cash bonus. What do others on this forum typically do to recognize the nanny's birthday? If you are a nanny, what would you like from your employer and the children under your care? Our relationship with her is new as I only recently went back to work, but I have been very pleased with her care of my son.
