Ditto. My Family is pushing me to have kids and I basically told them only if they plan on paying for my nanny, night nurse, boarding school and therapy for me because after being a nanny for so many years I could never image doing it 24/7 as a stay at home mom.

How could you be a nanny if you didn't love children? There is no prestige , very low wages , impossible parents to deal with. So, unless they are mad masochist s then it must be love of children.

I absolutely love my kids and enjoy every single minute I am with them.

However, I am glad to leave at the end of the day and I am glad I do not have my own right now.

I do love kids generally. I love all the crazy ways they see the world. Being a nanny has made me more particular. I find myself getting peeved when I see kids in Target swiping things off the shelves or running around on the metro. Those kids would not be my cup of tea.

I love kids and that's why I got into nannying. I could not see myself doing anything but working with children. Everyone calls me mother goose and my mother swears my calling is to mother ten thousand children.

I'm and MB but our kids' nanny DEFINITELY has an affinity for children, especially babies. She's very clear about that herself, and it's totally obvious in how well she does her job.

I don't think I'd want a nanny who didn't have a love of kids. I suppose it's certainly possible to do the job either way, but I want someone who is happy in their work, and hopefully specifically enjoys my kids.

How long have you had this nanny?

I'm a MB, and not really a "kid" person, though I love my own. My hope is that my nanny loves kids, and chose her profession because the idea of working with kids all day appealed to her. Is that the case for most nannies? Or, is taking care of kids just something you know how to do well, and liking them especially or not doesn't really come into it?

I chose my own career because I enjoy it (not every bit of it, obviously; every career has its scut work), and I know plenty of people who have told me they would have no interest in it or would hate to be stuck doing it. So, my hope is that nannies are drawn to working with kids even if I can't quite imagine wanting to do that all day.
