Can they afford a nanny?

Sometimes I have the same issue. Just make the best with what you can. I don't even bother to offer to shop anymore.

The "nasty and defensive" tells me there are either major food issues or money issues in that house. Either way, I wouldn't like dealing with it either.

Thanks guys! I've offered to grocery shop before (it's not the 1st time the cupboards have been empty) and MB actually got really nasty and defensive over it so I haven't tried again. All I can do is hope either MB or DB hit up the grocery store for at least the basics tonight!

NP here. That's a great solution, but some MBs don't want us grocery shopping/don't reimburse and don't see anything wrong with loading the kids up with sugar first thing in the morning. If OP isn't encouraged to take the kids grocery shopping she may just be SOL.

Sorry OP, I know the feeling. I watched a two year old melt down over sharing last week and his father immediately offered him a back of Chips Ahoy. At 10am. It didn't get better from there. Good luck!

I know it's a bad day when the kid's get pop-tarts and hawaiian punch for breakfast, and are going to have Ramen with canned veggies for lunch, because that's the only food in the house other than MB's lean cuisines. Seriously people, I cannot feed your children if there's no food in the house and I definitely cannot feed them nutritious meals when this is what I'm working with!
