OP_ Thank you. I don't feel quite so bad. I would NEVER tell him nor hurt him but him and his nine year old brother want to make me tear out my hair. I dread going to work. I am looking for a ob in another field because frankly I am done with kids. I don't even want kids thanks to them.

I'd been with the family 2 yrs since toddler was newborn, and they decided this summer to have me watch big brother. Didn't ask, just assumed I would watch the brat.

+1. I quit just a few weeks ago- a job I LOVED with a toddler charge I adored simply because his 4yo brother is a little hellion. There isn't enough money in the world to deal with him, so I left.

I had a job where I had a terrible time trying to bond with all 3 children. I began to dread going to work each day, and I knew it was time to quit. Kids deserve to have a caregiver that likes them, and we all deserve a job that doesn't literally make you sick to go to every day.

I had 1 charge I hated literally despised. She was 4 and was so mean she would cuss me out daily hit me bite me. After 4 weeks of her screaming at me telling me she would kill me and my family I gave up and quit.

I refused to provide backup care for my infant charges brother who was 4 because he was allowed to hit and kick when he got angry. I had agreed to it in the interview and it was in my contract. They didn't disclose his behavioral problems so i felt justified in refusing.

Honestly, no - I have never disliked a charge because their bad behavior is NEVER their fault. The fault is with the parents.

All you can do is set very strict boundaries for your charges - let them know that your consequences are different than their parents and you are no nonsense. If the parents do not allow you to do this then you have to walk away.

The parents are out of control. This will be endlessly frustrating if you stay there. It's up to you.

I feel bad for saying this but I do not like my 7 year old charge. He tries to be as annoying as can be, is demanding, has no sense of boundaries, thinks he can do what he wants when he wants. He behavior and attitude makes it extremely hard for him to bond with. His own parents are fed up with his behavior and have talked about sending him to border school. He is destructive and tries to hurt his brothers. The other three, their behavior is a tad better but have some of the same annoying traits. Their parents think some of it is cute until they do it to them.
Has anyone else had trouble not bonding with or liking their charges?
