Reminds me of the saying, "you know one child with Aspergers, you know one child with Aspergers." Same goes for Colombian APs. And German. And Brazilian.

Now the French, that might be an exception.
Just kidding.

So...our conclusion is that all Columbian APs are different.

I have few Colombian au pairs in my group and families are really happy and no problems. One even got hit by car at red light and she didn't hesitate to take picture of car which hit her so they were able to track this driver and he paid all expenses for repair. My experience is they are really great. Of course you can find one who won't be, but I didn't have that luck yet! =)

HM of 5 French APs. Only very minor instances on being late (not more than me!). All were in general very punctual.

My Colombian AP says the same thing about her friends. It drives her crazy. happily it tough to be late for work when you live where you work. My AP is extremely reliable.

We've had the exact same experience for the most part. Our AP. is a bit older, but we've met her Colombian ap friends and they all seem very nice. Yes, she probably goes out a few times a month, sometimes all night, but she and her friends mostly just like to go dancing.

Which au pairs don't come here to party?

Actually, in our eight years of hosting, we have never had an AP who "came here to party." This doesn't mean they didn't have a good time (they all have), but their primary focus has not been "partying."

Well our au pair before the super-serious Colombian au pair was French, so I guess I can debunk that as well.

My German AP says all her Columbian friends are an hour or more late for everything. Same with the French au pairs. Anecdotal of course.

Anyone met any from Colombia? I have met a lot of au pairs but none from here, and wanted to know your impressions. Obviously anecdotal but is still like to hear.
