As a nanny, I can say that this is the kind of relationship with our MBs that so many of us want - let the nanny do her job and the mother do her job - and let's both respect the other. I think it's great that you admire the fact that your nanny "gives as good as she gets" and it great that you nanny is volunteering to take the heat of other people's judgement for you.

As it's been pointed out - this is a partnership and you guys are really making it work for the benefit of your child.

OP here and thank you - but really it's our nanny who deserves the praise here not me! And in a lot of ways, she does remind me of Mary Poppins!

You, my friend, have a great nanny. Treat her well.

We hired a fantastic nanny for our baby. She is smart, educated, responsible and loves my baby. She is also older (60) and "gives as good as she gets".

Last week the baby was sick and had a high fever. The nanny called me and we brought the baby to the doctor. Before the doctor came in the nurse wanted to weight him - and he started crying. The nanny gave the baby his lovey to hold on the scale and he quieted down immediately. The nurse got an attitude saying the weight would be off now and nanny said, "Well then you'll have to weight the lovey after I take the baby off the scale and subtract it from his weight - problem solved". The nanny added that the baby doesn't feel well and there is no reason anyone in his doctor's office should make him feel worse.

Way to go Nanny! I'm a FTM and always afraid that doctors, nurses, et al will think I'm being an over-reacting mother. Later the nanny told me, "always let me play bad cop - no one ever bitches about a pushy nanny the way they do a pushy mother".

I love our nanny!
