I see nothing wrong with it. I put a little GPS tracker under our nannies car after she had been working with us for a couple weeks. She has not yet strayed from the expected path between home and school or other places we knew she was going.

No, they said through an app like Find My iPhone.

They also have cameras & the dad will be home some days and I've told them I'll be using an app that I can update and they can see the stream of updates live. Tracking my phone isn't something I'm comfortable with...

They clearly don't trust you. How long have you been together?

That's the sad part - I haven't even started with them yet.

Tracking my phone was never mentioned during any (3) of our interviews, nor is it mentioned in the contract.

I understand the parents wanting to protect their child and being nervous having a nanny. But trust is SO important in order to form a great, long lasting relationship. I'm feeling very discouraged right now, and am definitely questioning my decision to accept the position with a family I thought was going to be wonderful and even my "dream job/family". Ugh.

I am confused. They want to track your location of your phone use? What do they hope to learn? If they provided the phone and paid the bill thn maybe because I would continue to use my personal phone for personal calls and texts and I see no reason to hide my location.

Why are you confused? Does someone track your every move 50 hours a week? Somehow I doubt it.

Nope, I am confused about their motivations for doing so. If you read my post you might have noticed I asked OP about it. No one antagonized OP so I suggest you stop crying wolf little girl.

Good luck OP.

Excellent advice. Btw, did they give you any references for themselves? I'm not sure I would trust these people if I were you. You probably have no idea about their possible criminal history or ethical behaviors, or lack of.

Maybe this is a good test of your ability to maintain healthy boundaries. Tell them what you are comfortable with. See if they respect you, or not.

If they have the GPS turned on, they can see where you are every minute. Maybe the camera to.

No that's just weird and creepy. What about your off hours? Can they see all your goings and comings?

Parents, do you track your nannies cell phone?

Nannies,  have your employers ever tracked your phone? Did you consent to it (why?)? Would you be okay with your employers tracking your phone (why)?

I've never had employers track my phone before,  but it was brought up by a family that offered me a position so I'm wondering if it's common...

Thanks!
