I have a nose ring (a ring, not a stud), and none of my employers have ever said anything about it.

I also have other piercings that my employers do not know about, because I keep healthy boundaries in our relationships.

+1 I am Indian and have a nose piercing. Pretty common and no one in my community would think it's 'trashy.'

I have a kid who pulls on jewelry. I stopped wearing jewelry because of it. I would say find but I don't like the look nor would I be held responsible if baby did something by accident.

I would hire you, but as part of a dress code, I would ask you not to have it in during work hours. I don't think it looks very professional.

I've had my lip, eyebrow, and industrial pierced at the same time. I also had small gauges, several other ear piercings, and my tragus done. All of my jewelry were small, and always silver! I never had a problem getting hired. I think wearing subtle jewelry helped a lot.

I would mention in interviews that I would he happy to leave my facial piercings out, or wear clear jewelry. Everyone always opposed and said they had no problem with the facial pierings. I took them out several years ago and only have ear piercings left.

Currently, the underneath(back) of my hair is bleached with two streaks of pink. No one has even batted an at eye at it!

I'm a career nanny with six years experience, with a good attitude, and excellent references. I also dress well for interviews and always look presentable for work. I think with all of that most people are able to look past piercings, hair, ect ..and focus more on your abilities and professionalism.

I have tattoos and piercings. It took my mb two months before she noticed my gauges or nose stud. She didn't care and all the families I work for didn't care but I do take out most piercings and cover tattoos during interviews.

I would not get an eyebrow piercing unless your comfortable with a scar on your eyebrow when you remove it.

Ignore the PP who thinks there is something trashy about piercings. She may not be the only one who thinks so, but trust me, she is definitely in the minority. These days, I know many people in their 50s and 60s who have piercings and tattoos. It's quite normal to have both and what you describe, OP, doesn't sound like anything extreme.

I don't think you need to inform your employers before doing anything to your body. If they fire you for a small piercing, you don't want to work for them.

Judging someone based on their appearance is trashy, as is lumping low income people in with trashy people. Trash knows no income education or professional level. Its too bad trashy character isn't as obvious as appearance. If someone would judge you for a tiny stud in your nose, they really aren't worth a second thought OP. And again, a baby cannot "grab" a nose stud any more than they possess the dexterity to grab a grain of rice. If a child has the dexterity to grab a grain of rice, they also can likely understand "please don't touch my face".

I'm an MB. I would have zero issue with this, and wouldn't expect you to tell me or for my opinion/thinking about it to matter at all.

I do think the point about babies yanking shiny things is worth keeping in mind though! Yikes!

I would not hire anyone who had facial piercings. I would have no right to tell a current nanny NOT to get a piercing but I wouldn't like it. Even if your employer is fine with it, your next employer may not be.

I have my nose pierced. My suggestion would be to do it on a Friday over a long weekend. I did not inform my employers prior to getting it, as there is nothing in my contract about dress or appearance and I consider it none of their business. They didnt care, nor has anyone else I've interviewed with since, but I don't tend to work with uptight straight laced families. By the PPs logic, she shouldn't hire anyone with earrings, glasses, or hair, which are far more likely to be yanked than a tiny stud in your nose, or piercing in your eyebrow.

Babies yank shiny objects. I would not hire someone who had an eyebrow ring.

I want to pierce my nose or my eyebrow...Nothing too crazy just a little stud...As small as I can get it.

Silver stud. Small.

Should I tell my bosses?

They are nice and all, but just in case they may have an issue with me having any type of facial piercings.

I have none now nor do I have any tattoos.
