Even if the baby isn't the nanny's responsibility yet, my staying home with a new baby was distracting for the older one and there were definitely times nanny had to step in to assist me with something as I had a fairly complicate delivery/recovery. Even though nanny wasn't responsible for the baby yet, it definitely changed the nature of her job and DH and I felt she should be compensated accordingly.

I honestly don't see why you would raise her rate. If she requests a raise that is a discussion you can have, but to just do it seems a little foolhardy.
