DB always adjust the thermostat too hot or too cold (to save money) MB and I are always switching it adjusting it a degree or two. Of course when DB walks in he changes it right back, but MB and I have a running joke about it and I am free to adjust thermostat.

Wow...You get reprimanded for changing the thermostat like a freakin' child??! Unless this job is paying you a pretty penny OP, I wouldn't want to work for someone who treated me in such a petty manner that he would get mad at me for something such as this.

It's one thing to be upset about neglecting a child while on duty, but to change a thermostat and accuse someone indirectly of lying? <---- Yes, which he DID by insisting it was not past 80. I would have issues w/that.

+1. That's where I keep it too but I also have let the nanny know to change it as she wants. I don't care what she puts it on as long as it's comfortable for the children.

I adjust it all the time and even was the one to turn off their heat for the season. They tell me all the time to put it to my liking as I am the one in the house from 7:00am-6:00pm Monday-Friday.

Why would you accept a job that had this in the contract?
This screams 'high-maintenance' and 'controlling.'
They won't even let you change the temperature?

Wtf? Are you nanny or employer? That's crazy. I don't usually touch the thermostat, but if my employers forbade it we'd have a problem.

I change it the minute the parents leave. Bi don't need to sit in the Sahara desert all day.

I have 2 nanny families
Family A I only touch the one in the playroom, usually just a degree or two and cut the ceiling fan on
Family B I don't, even though it's literally 85 degrees in there on a cool day. I wish I could, though. My time there is miserable.

I change it almost daily. It's either too hot or too cold.

I was just reprimanded for changing the thermostat by DB. He's a prick most of the time anyway. But on Monday when we came back from the park, no joke thermostat read 82 degrees. We were all sweating and miserable. I changed it to 76 and went on my way. Today for some reason he choose to stomp down the stairs and ask if I had touched it Monday. When I said "yes, it was 82 and we were burning up," he said it was impossible because they don't put it past 80. As I am an adult and learned to read double digits years ago..it was 82. I apologized halfheartedly for changing it and for having the audacity to want his baby to not be sweating while just eating lunch but can't help but feel annoyed he even said anything about it being 76 degrees. To me 76 is still hot but its more comfortable. Venting I guess. Its hard to take someone serious when you have zlitch respect for them.
