Subject: Cussing at NF
I have never cussed at or yelled at my employers however my current family did get a forceful conversation that childproofing was not an option (I'm talking the bare bones basics of a child gate on the steps and covers on the gas stove and open electrical outlets). I basically told them that either they could do it or they could buy the supplies and I would do but but that I was not willing to work in a home with absolutely no childproofing and 2 very active 8 month old twins.

If a nanny ever behaved that way in our home he/she would be fired immediately.
If I, or my husband, ever behaved that way toward our nanny I would fully expect him/her to quit.

No, I would never cuss at my boss.
I mean, trust me there were some I wanted to drop the "F-bomb" on. But I am on medication for bi-polar and am older now.
But back in my 20's when I wasn't on meds, I would have most certainly talked back.

So a family with two working parents isn't "regular"? What would a couple, say a doctor and a lawyer, with no family in the area do for childcare if they were "regular"?
Anyway. I've never lost my temper with an MB/DB but I have used strong language over safety concerns that were not being addressed in a timely manner. They respected my forcefulness because they knew it was coming from a place of genuine care and not judgment.
You judged them to be slow with their childproofing responsibilities. Don't apologize for saying the right thing.

So a family with two working parents isn't "regular"? What would a couple, say a doctor and a lawyer, with no family in the area do for childcare if they were "regular"?

Ugh, I'm sorry, OP. I had a horrid DB/MB once and I still get a little sick thinking about what why put me (and their poor child) through.

NO I never have, but an ex-friend did. The parents were divorcing and she went off on the mom. (I met her through the family, I worked for them for a short time too, one day a week, and left a couple months later when I realized how crazy they were. The other nanny and I remained friendly.) She went off on the mom, screamed at her that she was a terrible mother etc etc. Probably all true stuff, but still, very immature. I wasn't the least bit surprised when she cut me off a few months ago when she and I had a disagreement about something. She's nearly 50 BTW. Much too old to be acting like a 16 yr old.

I got very angry at my DB but never cussed or raised my voice but I was clearly angry and "went off" (charge was asleep and in the other room) That was on a Friday - on Monday we all acted like nothing happened. That Monday afternoon, I apologized for getting so angry but told him I was not sorry about the content of my rage! I was right theoretically but wrong in my emotion. Everything has been great since.

The very first nanny we ever hired did that to me (I'm an MB) because we didn't use a pacifier and she disagreed. She was fired that evening.

Nope never done that. I have had MBs/DBs do and say some crazy things after I give notice. One DB threatened to "make me stay". I wasn't sure what exactly he meant, but seeing as how he was a brawny 6'6 man, I told my MB that if she wanted me to work through the remaining 3 weeks of notice she would see to it that I never saw him again. They gracefully followed that up with a threat to sue. Sometimes I feel like I should have cussed them out. It was a true test of my patience and professionalism.
