I concur that $30 is much to low for 3 kids OP regardless of age. Please do not even offer her that rate or she will most definitely be insulted.

For three kids that age range, I would pay her no less than $65.

I charge $75/night for two kids.
I also get paid all their awake hours and then if they happen to wake at night (they never have, yet) I charge in 15 min increments. But neither one sleeps in the guest room with me. If they ever did wake up, I would settle them and they would have to stay in their bed. (Family rule).

we just left our dd w/ our nanny when I was in the hospital delivering DC#2. we paid nanny her hourly rate for the 8 hr day (during the regular work week) and then OT for all time after that until DD's bed time and then a flat $75 for the 9 hrs she slept through the night. Since DC#2 came early we ended up having to pay our nanny for OT on Saturday until we came home. she didn't request this. I read the message board and determined that this was fair.

+2 $30 is insulting - it's less than $4.00 an hour!!! Who would take the responsibility of caring for three children and two dogs AND sleep in a strange bed (possibly with a child) for three-something and hour?!!!

Come on, OP - even you must realize that asking someone to leave their home for the night for $3.75 an hour is slave wages!

NP here, don't forget that the sitter may have to sleep WITH one of the children!
OP, $30 is far too low! I would do this for $75 on top of hourly pay during the day. You MAY be able to offer $50 without insulting her.

If you cannot leave the house, YOU ARE WORKING. I work in LA so it might be different but I charge my regular hourly rate for overnights and always have.

PP here, ok I just saw that your kids are not infants or toddlers, so you might be able to pay less as they are way less work. So anywhere between $75-100 might work. You need to keep in mind the sitter is in charge if anything happens, and she left the comfort of her own space to be at your place.

Kids are 10,13, and 15. They all sleep fine. My 10 year old might get up and want to sleep in room with sitter or have sitter sleep in her top bunk, but it happens rarely.

How old are the kids? $30 might be fine if they're all 10+ and are experienced sleeping without you around (camps, sleepovers, etc) and are unlikely to have any problems through the night.

much would you charge or pay for just overnight care? I will pay my sitter until 1030 PM hourly rate and then start again at 630 AM. I was thinking $30 for the time she is sleeping. I have 3 kids and 2 dogs but how much do you pay for when sitter is just sleeping? What is the market rate?
