I am in Southern CA as well and it is hot as heck out here. Me and my charge usually take a morning stroll to the local park, but damn it at 6AM it was bright and sunny already and the sun was beating down hot and heavy.

Good day to stay inside, turn on the A/C and play baby dollies.

I cannot wait for this heat to break - it's far, far too early to have to deal with this!!! My charge is a baby - too young to take out in over 90 degree weather. And I'm one of those nannies that LOVES to walk and my charge loves it as well. We'll be stuck inside again this afternoon. UGH!!!!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions! We ended up outside playing in the puddles when we got a break in the rain and they loved it! Then into the bath for bubbles and toys.

We do pillow piles on occasion and I'll have to search around the basement for a big box for tomorrow

Another idea (twin mom here) depending on how mobile they are, is to take all the pillows and cushions off a couch (or from beds or whatever) and throw them all on the floor and let them climb all over them. The novelty is fun for them, and it's a way to get them some safe (and sometimes entertaining) exercise. 15 months is a little young for fort building probably, but this is a good precursor.

Also - do you have any large cardboard boxes around? Climbing in and out of those is big fun, and you can drag them around in them like a little train. Or you can do that with a cooler also. (Requires a decent back and some stamina though!)

And you can also put on rain gear (or even just a couple of decent layers) and let them go play in the rain. So they get wet? Big deal - it's warm enough. Then into the tub to warm up and just toss all the clothes in the dryer. That will tire them out for a nap.

And sometimes I pull out a plastic colander and some wooden spoons and let them bang away to their hearts content.

(BTW, lest I sound too competent, I have an amazing nanny who bears the brunt of this work at our house. I can barely stand it through a weekend of miserable weather!)

Ugh- I'm in the same boat! I have 15 month old twins here and it's raining all day today and supposed to rain all day tomorrow. They have been banging on the back door and bringing me their shoes every 2 seconds because they want "out" NOW. Friday is supposed to be 65 and gorgeous so I just have to make it through 1 more day!

And the bubble bath idea sounds perfect- I don't usually do bathtime with them but that will be perfect as a 'new' activity to break up the week.

One of our go to solutions is a looooong bath w/ lots of toys and bubbles. Maybe that can help fill a half hour?

Ugh this heat wave is gonna kill us. Ok not really but I'm not ready for triple digits. I'm outside all day with my charges so this is just gonna suck. Even the parks are too hot. For some reason in my area of southern California (the valley) the parks and playgrounds have little to no shade. The climbing toys are burning hot. Lots and lots of water play this week!!

Both boys (15 month old twins) are running mild fevers, grouchy, cranky, and keep banging on the sliding door because they want to go outside, but it's pouring. It's not even 9 yet- I feel an extra cup of coffee (or 2!) Is going to be needed!

I hope everyone else is having a good day with happy kiddos and I hope mine will be happier after morning nap! Lol
