Yes, it would have made perfect sense for her to tell you ahead of time. What an airhead.

I would be peeved too, but what can you do??

These things happen in life...Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches.

I've never heard of a "paint splatter" party. If my daughter was invited, I would have had no idea that I was personally at risk of getting paint on me! Hopefully that was the case.

Yes, MB should have told you ahead of time what was planned for the day. I am assuming she knew - is there any chance she didn't know what kind of party it was?

1) now you know to always keep a change of clothes with you (mine is just t-shirt, cheap leggings and flip-flops, but it get's the job done).
2) You also cod have said, "I'm not dressed for that, do you have anything I could borrow/can I take DC by my place for a change pf clothes?"
3) She should have told you .

Just a vent, I guess. I babysit for a family every other weekend. This past weekend, I arrived and the mom informed me I'd be taking her son (who has special needs) to a birthday party. Great! Except it was a "paint splatter" party, and she didn't feel the need to warn me ahead of time so I could dress appropriately. Obviously I never wear expensive clothing to work, but I also showed up to work that day expecting to do our usual array of activities, none of which are messy like paint.

I left the party covered head to toe in "washable" paint - it washed out of my shirt, stained the thread detailing on the pockets of my jeans, and my favourite shoes are totally ruined despite multiple attempts to clean/wash them. Why couldn't she have told me ahead of time? Ugh.
