For me it depends on how long the training is. Coming over to the house for an hour or two to learn where everything is, get a feel for the house/the kids, maybe drive through the neighborhood with MB or DB to learn how to get to the kids favorite parks/pools/etc, fine if that's unpaid. Working for a full work day or more then I should be paid, even if that's a slightly lower training wage. I've never gotten to the point of a training without knowing what the pay will be. In fact, I've never gone past the end of a first interview without knowing what the pay would be.
