Try to work it out with them but if they aren't willing to pay the overtime I would find another job asap!

If you are not making OT pay, that would be a huge deal~breaker for me OP.

I would most definitely sit down and try to negotiate that w/the family and see what happens.

Sick pay as well. But OT for sure.

If nothing comes of it, then I would seek another job.

No sense staying in a job where you are not happy. Over time you will just grow resentful and no one benefits from a resentful nanny. No one.

I agree with the sentiment of trying to make your current job work, but only to a certain point and for certain issues. If your employers have no idea that you're having these issues with your pay and PTO, the one year mark is a great time to bring it up. If you have already tried to negotiate these things, and they refused, I would move on without remorse. There are also plenty of other issues where I believe an employer should be "fired" for cause and without a ton of notice if any, including any kind of contract breach, disrespect, lying, or huge changes in philosophy.

I would always try to make my current job situation work first - but that does not stop you from beginning to search for other employment. Spiff up your resume, make sure your CPR certificate is still valid, and get a new head-shot on Care.com and start applying for other jobs. If your demands are not met by your current employer, you will be able to walk away more easily.
