There is a fantastic forum in Los Angeles - you need to sign-up to access everything and can't just jump on to post and answer questions. It's called Peachhead Families. Here's a link for more information: http://www.peachheadfamilies.com/

I found it amazing when I was pregnant and getting ready for the baby.

Someone tried to start one, but it didn't take off.

I'm an LA nanny and our issues are often quite different than any other place Ive ever lived. Where else in the world could a three mile drive take you an hour on some days? Plus we have maybe ten days a year (even less in drought years like this one) when we cannot take our charges outside. The amount of paid-under-the-table nannies is also greater (I'm guessing - maybe not) in the southwest which is a competition for legally paid nannies.

I'd love a forum devoted to Southern California.

I am West Coast as well, San Diego CA and agree that certain issues such as rate, snow days and public transportation are different for us.

It would be great if we had something similar to this.

Why don't you create one?

While this forum is reasonably helpful, I really wish someone would create a Los Angeles Mom's Forum (if there is one I don't know about, please tell me). LA isn't like any other city as it is a major city that is not really a city at all but a collection of suburbs and neighborhoods - with perfect weather and traffic from hell - and our parenting issues/nanny issues are sometimes very different that an DC parent would face.
