Have friends who do this. One has been doing it for 3 years. She just finds families who fit well with her kid and love the added playmate. Another one didn't like it because she had another child and it became too much.

This was the care situation we had for DS, until we ended the arrsngement. The SAHM nanny bit off a bit more than she could chew. She lost the freedom of staying at home and had another kids, my sons, schedule to contend with. I also got tired of my son being dragged along to hair cuts, ballet performances, and play dates for her 2 year old . Also- what happens when the kids get sick? Or when you get sick? We switched to daycare as soon as we could. She was great- and loved my kid , but we needed longer term reliability.

I don't think you need a license as long as it's only one other child, but I live in CA so check your state's laws.

You didn't ask, but at most I'd expect to pay $10/hr for a setup like that.

Of course it can be a great thing. You may need a license. Where do you live?

I currently stay home with my 2 year old son.
He is very social and we have so much fun when I watch my friends' kids.
Has any other stay at home mom taken in another child as a job?
Just wondering, it seems like such a great idea. Not exactly a true nanny but it seems better for the kids too especially if they are an only child. I haven't heard of anyone that has done it but seems like such a great idea.
