It doesn't mean anything. You're reading to far into it. He's just saying you'd make a great teacher. Learn to take a compliment and get over it.

When my last job ended and I told Mb I was thinking of becoming a teacher, she was thrilled for me and even said she always thought I'd be great at it.

Typical pre K age is around 3, so they are probably looking into putting the child into some sort of program

If OP is in the DC area, the norm here is to put them in at least half day preschool around 3. No one waits until 5.

He might have even been trying to stop you from having that impression, since his original comment could have been seen as suggesting you go do something else!

If I were you I would take it as a hint that you may be on the job hunt soon. Polish your resume, renew any certifications, learn a new skills, etc. Talk to them about their plans for next year, ask for a performance review, and maybe step up your game a little bit because your last few months will be what is fresh when they are called for a reference. I don't think there is any reason to panic, though. They are happy with you, and they want to see you do well. This is just the natural progression of things.

Ask what the plan is for the fall when school starts. If they say we will put the 3 yr old in pre school ask of you will still be needed and how much. This is a question most nannies have when the youngest gets to that age. Very common question and situation .

Sounds like they are probably thinking of putting their kid in preschool at some point. Perhaps to get ready for K (which isn't that far off!) Anyways, I think it is fine to bring it up for clarification, just don't come in accusatory or anything.

My DB was the one who was home with the kids today until I got there. His wife who usually is there for the goodbyes had an early drs appt so I didn't get to see her yet. I had made some play menus and money to go along with play food set for 6 year old last time I was there because she likes to role play restaurants. They also have a 3 year old. DB complimented my craftiness on them this morning and said "I should consider being a teacher or getting a job at a local preschool because I was so great with kids." He then said something about not being able to stay and work for them "forever o even that much longer" because 3 year old would start kindergarten soon. Since when does a 3 year old go to kindergarten? I kinda feel like he was telling me to start looking for another job. Should I say something to MB who is the one I have the most interaction with? He said other things too about how they have loved having me. Then he just went upstairs and got ready for work and told me to have a good weekend. Very confusing!
